Gut microbiome and wellness app, published on App Store and Google Play
Ombre sells gut microbiome testing kits, and its users already had a web platform to see their result. The Ombre app is the next step: it turns that result into daily support. It includes chat, daily health check-ins and a weekly recap. Published on the App Store and Google Play, in the United States.
The challenge
At Ombre, seeing the test result was never the problem. A web platform already did that, and it worked. What it did not cover was everything after.
A microbiome result is not spent on the first read. It opens a process that runs for weeks: the person changes habits, tracks how they feel and needs somebody to ask. That does not fit in a website you visit only when you need to look something up. Daily support had to live where the user already looks several times a day, and keep the conversation open.
The solution
I built the Ombre mobile app. Four pieces sit around the test result: a chat, a daily health check-in, a weekly recap and content to read. That recap shows how their metrics are moving. The physical kit is registered from the app itself. What someone bought and what they see on screen are tied together without a separate step.
Results
The app has been in production since 2025, published on the App Store and Google Play after passing review on both. Its distribution is United States only, so the App Store listing does not appear from other countries. It was not a handoff that closed: it is still being developed. For the Ombre user, getting the test result stopped being the end of the purchase.
Frequently asked questions
Why an app if Ombre already had the web platform?
Because they solve different things. The web is for looking a result up when you need it; daily support has to arrive on its own, with the conversation already open.
What does a user do in the app every day?
They answer a few short questions about how they feel, and that series feeds a weekly recap showing how their metrics moved. Alongside it, they can message through the chat at any time.
Is the app still in use?
Yes. It has been on the App Store and Google Play since 2025, in the United States stores, and is still being developed.
